What Is It?
The River provides accessible, affordable, fine arts education for children and young adults with disabilities or chronic illnesses, or who are economically disadvantaged. It offers year-round, barrier-free classes in music, art, drama, and dance.
Help Needed:
Assist students and teachers as needed, to provide support for students with disabilities to achieve their creative ideas and goals. Please contact TUTS for COVID-related updates.
Details
Minimum Age to Volunteer
15 independently, 12-14 with a parent or guardian
Time Commitment
There are six one-week camps from 9 AM to 3 PM Monday-Friday. Volunteers must commit to at least one full week of camp during the summer. Volunteer can volunteer up to six weeks.
Training Needed
Mandatory 2-hour orientation (offered twice, from 6-8 PM)

VOLUNTEER ARTIST ASSISTANT
Volunteer artist assistants 1) help encourage children with disabilities to achieve their creative ideas and goals, 2) assist teaching artists and teacher aides with classroom set up and clean up, 3) help to keep students safe while attending classes and changing rooms, 4) assist students as needed with restroom breaks, water breaks, and eating lunch, 5) be a part of an inclusive, caring, and supportive environment, and 6) make sure you and your campers are having a fun and meaningful experience!
