What Is It?
A nonprofit dedicated to bringing together veterans and non-profit community partners to address issues facing our communities. The projects also empower veterans to find purpose through community impact, and inspire future generations to serve.
Events include helping at back-to-school events, sprucing up parks and schools, storm recovery projects, working at food banks and farmers’ markets, placing flags at military cemeteries, and more. Please contact The Mission Continues for COVID-related updates.
Minimum Age to Volunteer
None. Children and teens are welcome at most projects.
Varies, depending on the project. Most projects last 3-4 hours. Projects take place regularly, and volunteers can serve as often as their schedules allow.
COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
There are 5 separate Houston platoons, each with its own area of the city and its own projects. Sometimes all platoons work together. Projects include painting and landscaping at local parks and schools, packaging and giving out food to needy families, working at an urban farm, and placing flags at military cemeteries.
Information about the 5 Houston platoons is here.
