SECOND SERVINGS OF HOUSTON

SECOND SERVINGS OF HOUSTON

About

What Is It?

Houston’s only prepared food rescue organization; it picks up surplus unserved food from caterers, hotels, sports venues, and other regulated food businesses and delivers it the same day to dozens of approved charity meal sites, serving more than 6,500 needy people a week.

Help Needed:

Help rescue food at various events and venues and load the refrigerated vehicles for delivery to charity sites, or help at the office with internet research, analysis, and administrative tasks. Please contact Second Servings for COVID-related updates.

FOOD RESCUE SQUAD

Our Food Rescue Squad has a great time helping with food rescues.   Volunteers gather unserved surplus food at different events and venues, such as sandwich commissaries, bread companies, or convention centers, and load the refrigerated vehicles for delivery to charity sites. Weekday, weeknight, and weekend times are available.  “Please use our contact form to tell us your preferred timing, and we will add you to our email list for volunteer opportunities as they become available.”

ADMINISTRATIVE HELP

Volunteers may help at the office with tasks such as internet research, analysis, and organizational tasks.

I am a 65 year old Oil and Gas executive sales guy looking to help! Never volunteered for anything in my life – maybe now is time to give back!?
