What Is It?
A summer program that gives teen volunteers an opportunity to help Moody Gardens, a nonprofit educational destination, while gaining experience in a variety of career fields, including biology and education.

SAVY volunteers help staff with various duties and responsibilities, help educate visitors, and learn about a variety of career fields such as biology and education.

14. Maximum age is 17.
Time Commitment

Training Needed
The application process requires at least two letters of recommendation from non-relatives and a copy of your most recent report card. Once the entire application is received, you will be invited to attend a required SAVY Open House and schedule a personal interview with Volunteer Services.
A one-day orientation is mandatory for those accepted into the program. It will be held on a Friday and Saturday (you choose one of the days) in early June, from 9 AM-3 PM for first year SAVYs and from 1-5 PM for returning SAVYs.

SUMMER VOLUNTEER
The SAVY program is designed to be “an enriching program that will challenge participants mentally, physically, and socially, regardless of sex, color, or creed.” Volunteers help Moody Gardens by educating visitors and assisting staff with various duties, while learning about a variety of career fields, including biology and education, and gaining experience for future employment.
