What Is It?

A nonprofit organization that works to preserve, protect, and enhance Memorial Park for the enjoyment of all Houstonians, today and tomorrow.

Help Needed:

Memorial Park volunteer activities have been postponed until further notice. Please check the park’s volunteer page for COVID-related updates.

Details

Minimum Age to Volunteer

Volunteers aged 12-15 are welcome with a chaperone 21 years of age or older. There must be at least one adult per ten youth. Volunteers 16 years old and up may be allowed to volunteer without a chaperone at Conservancy events; email volunteer@memorialparkconservancy.org for details.

Time Commitment

Varies, but a minimum of 2-4 hours at a time. The Conservancy is open on weekdays 8 AM to 5 PM.  Most volunteer projects are scheduled for 8am-12pm Monday-Friday.  Saturday mornings are available on a very limited basis and must be booked at least 30 days in advance and be for groups of 20 or more. No projects are available during July or August.

Training Needed

Volunteers should have a good work ethic, be friendly, take direction well, enjoy being outside, and not mind getting dirty!

Help Needed

HELP MAINTAIN THE PARK

Help beautify landscaped areas, pick up trash, assist with plantings, remove invasive species, clean and repair benches, rehabilitate natural surface trails, and do other general park maintenance.

Memorial Park Conservancy’s biggest volunteer event of the year is in January. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to help plant trees in support of conservation efforts in the park. This is a perfect opportunity for high school clubs, teams, and individuals to gain service hours and learn about park maintenance.  Memorial Park volunteer activities have been postponed until further notice.

HELP WITH ANNUAL FUNDRAISERS LIKE THE BRUNCH RUN (APRIL)

The Annual Brunch Run is a 4-mile Run/Walk and Kid’s 1K, and a Post-Race Party. Volunteers opportunities include helping with packet pick-up on the days leading up to the race and on race day, registering runners, helping with water stations, and helping with set-up and post-race take-down.

Other fundraising events include the Golf Tournament and the Gala.
