About

What Is It?

A non-profit organization that assists people in need through emergency food pantry operations and services designed to assist individuals in gaining healthy families and meaningful employment, and achieving self-sufficiency.

Help Needed:

Help organize and distribute food in the Emergency Food Pantry, collect items for or help at the the resale shop, or help with the Christmas celebration.  Please contact the House of Amos for COVID-related updates. 

Details

Minimum Age to Volunteer

None.  Volunteers under age 13 are welcome to volunteer with a parent or guardian. Volunteers between the ages of 13 and 15 must be accompanied by a parent the first time they volunteer. Volunteers under age 18 must have a parent or guardian’s signature on the registration form.

Time Commitment

Monday through Thursday, 8:45 AM to 12:30 PM, or Saturday, 9:45 AM to 12:30 PM; greatest need is during the week.

Help Needed

EMERGENCY FOOD PANTRY

Help organize and distribute food in the Emergency Food Pantry on weekday mornings (Monday through Thursday) or on Saturday mornings.  “Our greatest need is for volunteers in our pantry on weekdays, Monday through Thursday.” 

Please call 281 495-9061 during pantry operating hours to sign up for volunteer opportunities in advance.

HELP WITH RESALE SHOP

The House of Amos resale shop gives people access to needed and wanted items they might otherwise not be able to afford. Proceeds from sales help fund the charity’s services.

Donations of household items (dishes, clean, gently used sheets and towels, lamps, etc.); small appliances (toasters, toaster ovens, TVs, DVD players, etc.); and clean, gently used men’s, women’s and children’s clothes, shoes, and toys are welcome.  Volunteers may also help at the shop.  Please contact the House of Amos for more information about donation.

HELP WITH CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

Help collect gifts and assist with the House of Amos Christmas party for needy families.
