About
What Is It?
A baseball program for boys and girls with physical and mental challenges. The most fundamental goal of the Challenger Division is to give everyone a chance to play baseball and have a rewarding experience, regardless of limitations.
Help Needed:
Buddies help their challenged partners by enabling them to play baseball. This might include pushing wheelchair-bound children around the bases or helping the players bat or field the ball. Please visit the Challenger website for COVID-related updates.

Minimum Age to Volunteer
Volunteers must be in 6th-12th grades.
Time Commitment
The Challenger League plays on six Sundays each spring (March-May), at 2 PM. Trained buddies arrive 30 minutes before the games. Games last approximately 1 hour. Buddies are asked to commit to at least 3 of these games. (The League doesn’t need to know which games ahead of time.) This commitment is critical to the success of Challenger Baseball.
Training Needed
Interested volunteers should fill out a “buddy form.” New volunteers must attend one of the four 45-minute bleacher trainings which will take place at 1:15 PM at the first four games.
Help Needed

CHALLENGER BUDDY
A Buddy’s job is simply to be a friend, engage the child in conversation, if possible; help him/her hit, throw, and catch the ball if needed; keep the child’s attention on the game; and make sure that the players are safe and that no one gets hit with a ball or bat.
