What Is It?
A nonprofit that provides weekend meals to elementary school-aged children who are eligible for school lunch programs during the week, but are in danger of going hungry on weekends.
Help Needed:
Volunteers may assemble bags of easy-to-prepare food, deliver the bags to the children’s schools, and/or donate pantry items.

ASSEMBLE FOOD PACKAGES
Volunteers gather in the Palmer Parish Hall of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church for one hour each month to package weekend food bags. The meetings are usually on the third Thursday of the month, from 7-8 PM.

DONATE NEEDED FOOD ITEMS
Each month the food pantry collects a certain food item.
January: Mac & Cheese (7.25 oz boxes)
February: Peanut Butter & Squeeze Jelly
March: Fruit Cups (individually packaged)
April: Vienna sausages or Beanee Weenees
May: Granola Bars
June: Raisins (individual boxes)
July: Mac & Cheese (7.25 oz boxes)
August: Peanut Butter & Squeeze Jelly (plastic containers)
September: Oatmeal (individually packaged)
October: Canned Green Beans & Corn
November: Chili with Meat (15 oz can)
December: Canned Chicken Noodle or Tomato Soup (10 3/4 oz)
Ramen, applesauce, and cheese cracker packages are accepted all year. Items may be dropped off at Paisley House, 9090 Katy Freeway, near Blalock.

DELIVER FOOD BAGS TO SCHOOLS
Volunteers deliver bags to Blackshear and Spring Shadows elementary schools every Friday during the 38 weeks of school. These deliveries take place on Friday mornings so are usually not convenient for current student volunteers, but students may be able to help during school breaks.
