What Is It?
BakerRipley is a United Way agency that brings resources, education, and connection to more than half a million Texans each year, offering “innovative solutions to help low-income families in emerging neighborhoods get a foothold in the region’s economy.“
Help applicants complete their naturalization (citizenship) applications at monthly Citizenship & Immigration forums, serve as runners or interpreters, or assist at registration. Please contact Baker Ripley for COVID-related updates.
Minimum Age to Volunteer
The forums take place once a month at various locations. Timing varies, but usually the volunteer shift is from 8 AM (training) until 2 PM. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
Training is provided for all volunteers — attorneys and non-attorneys — on the same day, starting promptly at 8 AM. Please dress comfortably and bring a light sweater as the room may get cold. Being bilingual is not required but it is helpful.
HELP WITH CITIZENSHIP & IMMIGRATION FORUMS
BakerRipley regularly holds these free forums in partnership with NALEO Educational Fund, the City of Houston, and Univision 45.
Volunteer attorneys assist qualified Lawful Permanent Residents who are applying for Naturalization (Citizenship). Other volunteers are needed to help applicants complete their application forms. Volunteers can also provide support as runners or interpreters, and at registration.
