HOUSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY

What Is It?: A Central Library complex and 40 branch locations, “providing a network of materials, services and programs to Houston’s diverse neighborhoods.”

 

Help Needed: Share library information, work with children, process materials, or help with special projects.

 

Minimum Age to Volunteer: 14

COLLECTION ASSISTANT

Help organize, shelve, and maintain books and other materials; help at special events; assist with crafts or storytime; help visitors use the computers; assist with office duties; or other tasks.

ARCHIVE INTERNSHIP

This 4-week internship is for 2-3 high school students, who work with the archival collections and in the conservation lab.  It is unpaid and takes place in June. For more information, call 832-393-1662 or email txr.reference@houstontx.gov.  Application is due in April.
