iEDUCATE USA – SUMMER STEM AND READING PROGRAMS
What Is It?: A non-profit organization that brings together motivated undergraduates to assist elementary school students in underserved and underperforming schools in math and science throughout the year, and also offers several summer programs at several elementary schools.
Help Needed: Help elementary school students with math, science, and/or reading during three-week summer programs.
Minimum Age to Volunteer: Students entering 9th – 12th grades may volunteer.
BRIDGE SUMMER CAMP VOLUNTEER
This camp is designed to help students bridge the summer gap as they transition from one grade to the next. Bridge camp volunteers assist each classroom’s Master Teacher in one-on-one and group tutoring of elementary school students in math, science, and reading. Help children enter the new school year ready for success!
There are 12 summer camps across various HISD and KIPP elementary schools (see website for full list). The camps last for 3 weeks — Monday – Thursday, from 8 AM to 3 PM — and take place in June (June 5th through June 22nd).
