HOUSTON PETS ALIVE!
What Is It?: A no-kill rescue organization that creates programs to save animals most at risk of euthanasia. Its goal is to “prevent animals from entering a shelter, and for those that do, get them out alive.”
Help Needed: Help care for cats, assist in the donation center, help with adoption events, collect needed items.
Minimum Age to Volunteer: 13. Volunteers ages 13-17 must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian and may not volunteer in the dog area for liability reasons.
HELP IN SHELTER & DONATION CENTER
Houston Pets Alive houses animals at risk of euthanasia until they are transferred to other no-kill rescue groups. Help care for cats (change food and water, play with, help keep crates clean), accept and organize donations, help at offsite adoption events, and more. (Volunteers must be 18 to work with dogs.)
DONATE NEEDED ITEMS
The shelter always needs donations! Supplies like bottled water, kong toys, pill pockets, towels, and large crates are always welcome. Please visit Houston Pets Alive’s Amazon wish list, or call the shelter for more ideas and current needs.
