CAMP ARANZAZU, INC.
What Is It?: A year-round camp for children and adults with special needs and chronic illnesses located near Rockport, Texas. Campers participate in sports, team building, arts and crafts, and water activities at the completely barrier-free facility.
Help Needed: Activity Leader in Training volunteers stay at camp for a week and help with camp activities, in the office and dining hall, and with other projects. Volunteers may also contribute welcome notes and stuffed animals and help with fundraising events.
Minimum Age to Volunteer: ALT volunteers must be high school juniors and seniors only, age 16-18. All ages may collect stuffed animals and make welcome notes.
ALT (ACTIVITY LEADER IN TRAINING) VOLUNTEER
This program is geared towards high school juniors and seniors who enjoy the outdoors and are interested in supporting campers with special needs and chronic illnesses from ages 5-18. ALT volunteers stay at camp for the duration of their volunteer session. Lodging and meals are provided. Volunteers get a well-rounded look at camp life by working in various locations such as the dining hall and camp office, and in different activities. There may also be special projects where help is needed.
The ALT volunteer application deadline is typically in January. Check the website for details.

There are at least 3 Houston-area fundraisers each year, including a Luncheon, Breakfast, and Shooting Clays Tournament.
