ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF HOUSTON – ASSISTEENS

What Is It?: An all-volunteer organization “committed to serving the educational and emotional needs of disadvantaged children and young adults, as well as families in crisis, in the greater Houston area.” Programs include providing school uniforms, scholarships, and holiday celebrations.

 

Help Needed: The Assisteens group works on projects throughout the year, including providing birthday party supplies to needy elementary students and helping with holiday celebrations for senior citizens.

 

Minimum Age to Volunteer: 14. Members must be attending high school.

HELP WITH PHILANTHROPY PROJECTS

Assisteens projects may include Birthday in a Box (giving party supplies to needy elementary school students), donating blankets to the children of women at the Houston Area Women’s Center, and providing holiday celebrations for local seniors.
